About Joe Russell:
"My earliest memories are of helping my dad take care of the house I grew up in. It was typical
1950's 3-bedroom ranch -- with a family of five kids living there, it needed a lot of general maintenance. This is
where I got my start.
As we grew up, the house seemed to get even smaller. We needed extra space, so I convinced my parents to build
an extra bedroom in the basement. They said they would supply the materials if I would do the work.
I did the framing work with a little help from my brother, Bill, and some coaching from a carpenter neighbor
and our dad. After the walls were up, I spent my summer running the electric, hanging paneling and installing
a drop ceiling. By winter my brother and I had our own bedroom.
My friends were envious of our room, so I remodeled a couple of their
basements during the next summer. I received such a sense of accomplishment working with my hands and
seeing the finished project. I was now getting paid to do what I loved to do.
After 10 years of
working for friends remodeling basements, kitchens and bathrooms, I decided -- with the support of my
wife Sharon -- that it was a good time to open my own business. I realized early that ultimate customer
satisfaction was the key to maintaining clients, and I made it my most important priority for the business's success.
Today, I pride myself in the quality of the work I do, the professional way I do it, and the
satisfaction of pleasing customers. If the job is done right and the customer is happy, they'll let me
know, and they'll also let their friends know. I have found this is the key to a thriving business. I
am proud of the business I have made and hope one day my son Kyle, who shows the same interest in
carpentry, will take over the business when the time is right."
